Meet Your Counselors

Rebecca Saunders
I'm Rebecca Saunders and am the Executive Director of Friends of Ferrum Park. I've been a homeschool mom for the last 7 years and prior to that, served as teacher assistant for multiple after-school programs. I'll be running the games and LARPing sections of camp and look forward to helping make this a great experience for all campers by encouraging their imagination, creativity and sense of curiosity and wonder!

Kathy Champney
I'm Kathy Champney and I relocated to Franklin County from the metro area of Washington, DC where I taught special education for 20 years. I earned my masters degree in special education from Johns Hopkins University. I also bring day camp development and leadership experience from my work over several summer’s organizing adventure camps. I'm running the crafting section of camp and will be helping all the players create projects they can bring home each night.

Eliza Saunders
Hey there! I'm Eliza, and I've been DMing for 7 years, and have been a camp counselor for the last 2 years.
I run roleplay-heavy, theatrical, new-player-friendly games. I like focusing on the players and letting them lead the game along, telling the story that they want to tell. In my combat, I try to create theatrical, cut-scene-type moments to let the players and their specialties shine.
The players heavily determine the pacing and story, almost like an open-world video game. You take action, and as the world, I respond!
Some things to know about me
- Neurodivergent
- Addicted to D&D and Dr. Pepper
- Evil DM

Orrie Saunders
I'm Orrie, and this is my second year as a camp counselor. My first was at Summer Quest camp in Pennsylvania.
I won't be running any D&D campaigns, but I will be using my experience being a camp counselor to help with the crafts and games for camp. I volunteer with the park project a lot and love Minecraft and game design.
Looking forward to meeting everyone this summer and helping out!
